Enjoy Chocolate Chip Waffles
Waffle irons are affordable, and a great piece of electrical equipment to have in a household filled with kids. You can make chocolate chip waffles, and serve with fresh berries and syrup in the summer. For your chocolate chip waffle recipe – you will need 2 cups of all purpose flour, ? cup granulated sugar, ? tsp baking soda, 2 tsp baking powder, ? tsp salt, 2 eggs, 2 cups buttermilk, ? cup melted butter, 1/3 cup chocolate chips, 2 tbsp vegetable oil. Use a large bowl and place flour, baking powder, sugar, baking soda and salt together. In a small bowl, place buttermilk, eggs and melted butter. Add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture. Sprinkle the mixture with chocolate chips. Preheat the waffle iron until hot. Apply some vegetable oil and pour batter, spreading it close to the edges. Cook the batter until waffles are crisp and brown. Serve with fruit, syrup or melted butter!

Vegetables like green leafy vegetables and beans form the vegetable aspect of soul food. Spinach, kale, potatoes, bean sprouts, beet, carrots, turnips, and pumpkin are often cooked in traditional soul food cooking. The vegetables are often boiled in soup and served alongside the meat dishes.
